If you attended the 2016 Plano Balloon Fest then you probably saw or talked to PFRA members working the Plano Fire-Rescue public safety booth! Volunteers handed out goodies to children and answered questions about Plano firefighters and how to stay safe around the home. If you are interested in joining PFRA, be sure to stop by our table at a future event and pick up a flyer on how you can register for the Citizens’ Fire Academy!

A great program was presented at the PFRA meeting on August 16th. Retired Assistant Chief Kirk Owen along with PFRA members Jeff Allbritten, Marcia Hurst, and Bill Carroll sat as a panel and discussed the restoration of the department’s 1982 American La France fire engine back in 2003-2004. The beautiful engine is now housed at and cared for by Station 12 and used in parades and sadly, for firefighter funerals.
