Plano Fire Rescue Associates (PFRA) was founded in 1995 for the purpose of raising funds to support the Plano Fire Department Annual Awards banquet. PFRA was incorporated as a Texas Not-For-Profit corporation and section 501(c)(3) corporation of the Internal Revenue Act of 1946. As an organization independent of the City of Plano and the Plano Fire Department, PFRA has championed the cause of the Plano Fire Department and raises funds for programs and other fire department related programs.

PFRA is comprised of citizens of Plano who are interested in supporting activities of the fire department. PFRA has grown and thrived since its inception. In 1998, PFRA merged with the Plano Fire Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association to become the organization we are today. We currently has over 50 active members, the majority of which are alumni of the Plano Fire Department’s Citizens Fire Academy (CFA). Graduates from the CFA are the sole source of our new members.

The purpose of PFRA is to provide a citizen’s volunteer organization to interact with the Plano Fire Department in promoting education and awareness in fire/life safety and to facilitate between the general public and the Plano Fire Department. In that regard, PFRA participates in many public education events including safety fairs, fire safety events and other events that promote fire and life safety.

Membership is open to all graduates of the Plano Citizens Fire Academy or to any Plano Firefighter, active or retired. PFRA conducts regular business meetings on the third Tuesday of each month and monthly Executive Board meetings immediately preceding the General Membership Meeting. Besides conducting the business of the organization at General Membership Meetings, programs are also presented each month to further the training or awareness of fire department operations.
