2017 PFR Appreciation Picnic
On Saturday, June 3, PFRA hosted the Plano Fire-Rescue Appreciation Picnic at the Heritage Farmstead. Plano firefighters and personnel were able to come out with their crews and their personal families to enjoy games, prizes, face painting, photos, and lots of great food from El Fenix.
PFRA sends a very special Thank You to all the sponsors who donated items, gifts, and food for the picnic, as well as the whole staff at the Plano Heritage Farmstead. Our thanks also goes out to all the volunteers who helped with the setup and games.
PFRA Hosts May TCFAAA Meeting
On Saturday May 13, PFRA hosted the regional Texas Citizens’ Fire Academy Alumni Association meeting in Plano at the William E. Peterson EOC behind Station 12. The presentation topic of this meeting was Fire Engine Restorations, and featured presentation by Richardson, Plano, and other cities as well. On display at the EOC were PFR’s 1982 American LaFrance and RFD’s 1983 American LaFrance, both of which were restored with the help of their CFA Alumni groups. Both engines are running great and they used today for funerals, parades, and special events.
Scholarship Grant Received from Walmart
On April 28, 2017 at the Re-Grand Opening of Walmart Supercenter store #3482 located at 425 Coit Road, the Plano Fire Rescue Associates were presented with a donation in the amount of $1000.00. The donation was presented to PFRA President Mike Meyer by Walmart associate Assistant Manager Michael Seifert.
The PFRA was also represented by Secretary Haydee Perez-Jalapa, members John Mouser, Yvette Mouser and Bettye Phillips.
Capt. Harrell Featured on TV Commercial
If you have watched prime time TV lately, you may have seen Capt. Peggy Harrell featured on a nationwide commercial sponsored by Kidde Fire Extinguishers. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/uA9oCSKu-io.
In addition to serving as PIO for Plano Fire Rescue and head of the department’s Fire & Life Safety Education, Capt. Harrell also serves as PFRA’s liaison to PFR and leader of the CFA program. Congratulations to Peggy for the 5 seconds of fame!
